Literacy Workshops

Folens endeavour to provide quality, engaging events and workshops with world class speakers. Our aim is to empower teachers and give an insight into topical issues facing education.

More and more schools are facing challenges in their classrooms which could be helped by introducing a literacy initiative. Folens are committed to providing you with services to aid these initiatives. As part of that vision, whenever possible, we bring the expertise of international literacy experts to Ireland to deliver workshops and events around the country.

Literacy Workshops

In May 2019, Folens Literacy and Engage Literacy brought Rosie Hogan's Literacy Workshops to Cavan and Portlaoise. Having authored 'Guided Reading - A Practical Approach', Irish Literacy expert and former Reading Recovery teacher Rosie Hogan delivers proactive workshops tailored for the issues facing Irish teachers today.

In November 2018 we were delighted to welcome back Stephen Graham.  Stephen Graham is a Professional Development Literacy Consultant working with Cengage Learning. Having completed a Master’s Degree in Children’s Literacy, Reading Recovery Training and a Deputy Principal role, Stephen understands the issues confronting today’s teachers. His wealth of varied experience in education also led to his appointment as Literacy Consultant for the NSW Department of Education and Training. Teachers who attended found the workshops 'Understanding Guided Reading in the classroom' to be informative and extremely useful.
