Wordshark is a hugely versatile computer program to help pupils read and spell.
It includes a high-quality phonics approach. Different games include blending sounds into words for reading and also segmenting words into sounds and syllables for spelling.
The program covers all common letter patterns and auditory patterns, spelling rules, syllable work for longer words, homophones, and alphabet and dictionary skills.
The tailored games and structured word lists make Wordshark especially useful for students with dyslexia.
key features
Numbershark is a computer program that helps pupils improve their understanding and use of numbers using a variety of carefully designed games.
The topics included address each of the number operations + - x ÷ plus fractions, decimals and simple percentages, in very gradual steps. Plus, variable speeds can be adopted to suit the individual pupil's need.
The program addresses many of the difficulties that lead students to dislike maths. These include poor short-term memory, limited attention span and poor sequencing skills.
To help those with dyslexia and dyscalculia, many of the games give a visual idea of what is happening when you add, subtract, multiply or divide. Numbers are shown as objects, digits or rods, or on an abacus, a number line, a number pad or a 100 square, to help basic understanding.
